WoW Midnight Season 2 Great Vault Guide 2026
The Great Vault is one of the best ways to improve your character in WoW Midnight Season 2.
Every week, you can complete Raid, Mythic+, and World Content activities to unlock more Great Vault choices. You then select one reward after the weekly reset.
The more objectives you complete, the more choices you get.
This guide explains how the Great Vault works in Midnight Season 2, how to unlock every slot, how item levels are calculated, and what content you should prioritize each week.
What Is the Great Vault in WoW Midnight Season 2?
The Great Vault is a weekly reward system that gives you additional gear based on the content you complete during the previous week.
There are three Great Vault sections.
- Raid
- Dungeons
- World
Each section has three objectives.
You can unlock up to nine reward choices in total, but you can select only one gear item from the available choices.
The Great Vault can contain gear from the content you completed during the week.
This makes it useful for filling missing slots, upgrading weaker equipment, and completing your Season 2 gear setup.
Where Is the Great Vault in Midnight?
The Great Vault is located inside the bank in Silvermoon City.
You can also check your progress without traveling to the bank.
Open the Adventure Guide and go to the Journeys section. The Great Vault button lets you view your current progress and see the reward levels you are working toward.
You still need to visit the Great Vault in Silvermoon to claim your reward.
How to Unlock Great Vault Rewards
There are three rows in the Great Vault.
Raid Row
Complete Raid Boss kills.
- 2 bosses unlock the first choice
- 4 bosses unlock the second choice
- 6 bosses unlock the third choice
Lair bosses also contribute toward the Raid row.
You do not need to kill every boss in the raid to unlock the three choices.
The quality of each choice depends on the difficulty of the bosses you defeated.
Dungeon Row
Complete dungeons.
- 1 dungeon unlocks the first choice
- 4 dungeons unlock the second choice
- 8 dungeons unlock the third choice
Heroic, Mythic 0, Mythic+, and eligible Timewalking dungeons can contribute to this row.
Mythic+ is usually the best option if your goal is to push the item level of your Great Vault reward.
World Row
Complete World Content.
- 2 activities unlock the first choice
- 4 activities unlock the second choice
- 8 activities unlock the third choice
World activities include content such as Delves, Prey, Zone Events, Weekly Quests, and Assignments.
Higher-level Delves and Prey can increase the quality of the reward.
Great Vault Raid Rewards
Raid rewards are based on the highest difficulty you complete.
Current Season 2 Raid Great Vault reward levels include:
| Raid Difficulty Completed | Great Vault Reward |
|---|---|
| Raid Finder | 292 |
| Normal | 305 |
| Heroic | 318 |
| Mythic | 335 |
| Mythic Very Rare / special final-boss rewards | Up to 344 |
The Great Vault uses a higher reward track than the gear that normally drops from the corresponding raid difficulty.
This makes Raid progression valuable even when you do not receive useful loot directly from a boss.
For example, if you complete six Heroic Raid bosses, your three Raid choices can be based on the appropriate Heroic progression.
If you complete some bosses on Normal and some on Heroic, the quality of the individual choices depends on the requirements you completed at each difficulty.
Great Vault Mythic+ Rewards
Mythic+ is one of the strongest ways to target high-level Great Vault gear.
The important part is that the Great Vault looks at your highest, fourth-highest, and eighth-highest Mythic+ keys.
You do not need to complete eight keys at the same level.
For example, if you complete:
- +10
- +9
- +9
- +8
- +7
- +6
- +5
- +4
Your three Dungeon choices are based on:
- Highest key
- Fourth-highest key
- Eighth-highest key
This means you should focus on raising the key levels that determine each Vault slot.
Mythic+ Great Vault Item Levels
The current Season 2 Great Vault system gives the following reward levels.
| Mythic+ Key | Great Vault |
|---|---|
| +2 | 305 |
| +3 | 305 |
| +4 | 308 |
| +5 | 308 |
| +6 | 311 |
| +7 | 315 |
| +8 | 315 |
| +9 | 315 |
| +10 | 318 |
| +11 | 318 |
| +12+ | 318 |
The Mythic+ end-of-dungeon reward and the Great Vault reward use different item levels.
The Great Vault reward is higher.
This is one reason Mythic+ remains useful even when you already have strong dungeon gear.
How the Three Mythic+ Vault Choices Work
Your Dungeon row is based on your highest, fourth-highest, and eighth-highest completed keys.
Consider this example.
You complete:
- 1 × +10
- 3 × +8
- 4 × +6
Your Vault looks at:
- Highest key = +10
- Fourth-highest key = +8
- Eighth-highest key = +6
That gives you three different reward levels.
If you want to increase your third choice, you need to improve your eighth-highest key.
If you want to increase your second choice, improve your fourth-highest key.
If you want to increase your first choice, complete a key higher than your current highest key.
This system lets you help friends with lower keys after you have secured the key levels you need.
Should You Run Mythic+ +10 for the Great Vault?
For many players, +10 is an important target.
A +10 Mythic+ dungeon currently gives a Mythic-quality Great Vault reward.
That makes +10 a strong weekly target for players who want to improve their gear without pushing the highest Mythic+ levels.
You can then run additional keys to unlock the second and third choices.
If you are pushing Mythic+ rating, higher keys still have value for rating, achievements, and progression.
Great Vault World Rewards
The World row includes several types of outdoor content.
These include:
- Delves
- Prey
- Zone Events
- Weekly Quests
- Assignments
You need:
- 2 activities for the first choice
- 4 activities for the second choice
- 8 activities for the third choice
Higher-level content gives better potential rewards.
For players who prefer solo or small-group gameplay, the World row can be one of the easiest ways to build additional Great Vault choices.
Delves and the Great Vault
Delves are one of the most useful World activities for Season 2.
Higher Delve tiers increase the potential Great Vault item level.
The World row can reach higher reward levels when you complete higher-tier Delves instead of relying only on basic World activities.
Tier 8+ Delves can provide a 305 item-level Great Vault reward according to the current Season 2 reward structure.
This makes high-tier Delves useful for players who do not spend their week running Mythic+.
Prey and the Great Vault
Prey also contributes to the World row.
Higher Prey difficulties provide better rewards.
Current World-row reward progression includes:
| Content Level | Great Vault Item Level |
|---|---|
| Normal Prey / Tier 1 | 279 |
| Tier 2 | 282 |
| Tier 3 | 285 |
| Tier 4 | 289 |
| Tier 5 | 292 |
| Tier 6 | 298 |
| Tier 7 | 302 |
| Tier 8+ | 305 |
If you are already running high-level Mythic+, the World row can serve as another source of gear choices.
If you mainly play solo, Delves and Prey give you a way to progress your Great Vault without relying on Raid groups.
Can the Great Vault Give Tier Set Pieces?
Yes.
Great Vault gear can provide Tier Set pieces.
Your available reward does not have to come directly from a Raid boss to have a chance of being a Tier piece.
This makes the Great Vault important when you are trying to complete your Season 2 set bonus.
If you have several gear choices, compare each item against your current Tier Set progress before selecting your reward.
What Should You Choose From the Great Vault?
The best reward depends on your character.
Do not automatically choose the item with the highest item level.
Check:
- Tier Set progress
- Weapon upgrades
- Trinkets
- Missing gear slots
- Secondary stats
- Special effects
- Your current upgrade track
- Your class and specialization
A lower-item-level item can sometimes provide more value if it completes a powerful Tier Set bonus.
For a DPS character, a strong weapon or trinket can also be more valuable than a small item-level increase on another slot.
Great Vault Bonus Rolls
If you do not need any of the available gear, you can choose a Nebulous Voidcore instead.
Nebulous Voidcores can be used for additional loot rolls on eligible Season 2 content.
However, you need to unlock at least three Great Vault rewards before a Nebulous Voidcore can appear as an alternative.
This gives geared players another option when none of the available items are useful.
Great Vault Tokens
You can also choose Thalassian Tokens of Merit instead of gear.
These tokens can be spent with the Great Vault attendant.
You can use them for rewards such as:
- Miasmic Jewelbinder
- Champion Mistcrest packs
- Hero Mistcrest packs
- Gold
- Spark of Tides
- Nebulous Voidcore
You can hold up to 12 Thalassian Tokens of Merit.
If none of your Great Vault items improve your character, tokens can provide more value than taking an item you will never equip.
What Should You Do Every Week?
A good weekly Great Vault routine looks like this.
Step 1
Complete your highest-value Raid objectives.
Try to reach at least two Raid bosses if you want a Raid choice.
Continue toward four and six bosses when possible.
Step 2
Run your highest Mythic+ key.
This establishes the first Dungeon Vault level.
Step 3
Complete enough additional Mythic+ runs to establish your fourth-highest key.
This determines the second Dungeon choice.
Step 4
Continue until you have eight completed Mythic+ dungeons.
Your eighth-highest key determines the third Dungeon choice.
Step 5
Complete World activities.
Use Delves, Prey, Weekly Quests, and other eligible activities to unlock the World row.
Step 6
Compare your three rows before choosing your reward.
Do not choose an item simply because the item level is higher.
Look at your complete character setup.
Best Great Vault Strategy for Casual Players
If you do not have much time each week, focus on quality instead of quantity.
A practical plan is:
- 2 Raid bosses
- 1 high Mythic+ key
- 2 World activities
This gives you access to all three Great Vault sections.
If you have more time, increase each section toward its second and third objectives.
Best Great Vault Strategy for Mythic+ Players
If Mythic+ is your main activity, prioritize the Dungeon row.
Start with your highest key.
Then build toward your fourth-highest key.
Finally, complete enough runs to establish your eighth-highest key.
For example:
- +10
- +10
- +9
- +9
- +8
- +8
- +7
- +7
This gives you three strong Dungeon choices.
You can then continue running keys to improve your character, rating, and gear.
Best Great Vault Strategy for Raiders
Raiders should focus on completing six bosses at the highest difficulty they can manage.
Two bosses give one choice.
Four bosses give two choices.
Six bosses give three choices.
If you can comfortably clear six Heroic bosses, this gives you three Heroic-level Raid choices.
You can then use Mythic+ or World Content to create choices in the other rows.
Best Great Vault Strategy for Solo Players
If you mainly play solo, focus on the World row.
Run high-tier Delves.
Complete Prey content.
Finish eligible Weekly Quests and World activities.
Your goal should be to unlock all three World choices while pushing the highest content level you can complete.
This gives solo players a consistent way to participate in the Great Vault.
Great Vault Tips for Season 2
Do not stop after one Mythic+
Your first Mythic+ gives you one Dungeon choice.
Four gives you two.
Eight gives you three.
Do not waste high keys
Your highest, fourth-highest, and eighth-highest keys matter.
Once you have secured a high first choice, focus on raising the key that controls your next Vault slot.
Check your Vault before choosing
Compare every option against your current gear.
A higher item level is not always the best upgrade.
Think about Tier Sets
If a Great Vault item completes your Tier Set bonus, it can be more valuable than another item with a higher item level.
Use tokens when your Vault is bad
Do not take an item you will never use.
Tokens can provide another path to useful resources.
Build three rows when possible
You do not need to choose only one type of content.
Raid, Mythic+, and World Content can all contribute to your weekly Great Vault.
Midnight Season 2 Great Vault Changes Coming With Patch 12.1.5
The Season 2 mid-season update arrives on October 13, 2026.
Patch 12.1.5 adds new content including The Unbinding of Kith’ix, the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan, the Season 2 Keystone Myth, and additional progression systems.
The update also introduces Ascendant Venomstones.
After the required progression, these can be earned from Heroic and Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ +10 and higher, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests.
This gives players more ways to improve their Season 2 equipment.
If you are preparing for the mid-season update, maintaining strong Great Vault progress each week will help you enter the new content with better gear.
Is the Great Vault Worth Doing Every Week?
Yes.
The Great Vault gives you another opportunity to receive useful equipment even when your normal content runs do not give you the item you need.
It also rewards players who maintain a weekly routine.
You do not need to complete every objective every week.
Choose the content that fits your character and push the highest reward level you can complete.
For many players, the strongest weekly approach is a combination of Mythic+, Raid, and World Content.
Final Thoughts
The WoW Midnight Season 2 Great Vault should be part of your weekly gearing routine.
Your main targets are simple.
- Unlock all three Raid choices when possible.
- Unlock all three Dungeon choices when possible.
- Unlock all three World choices when possible.
- Push your highest Mythic+ keys.
- Complete high-level Delves if you prefer World Content.
- Check Tier Set progress before choosing gear.
- Use Tokens of Merit when none of the gear is useful.
The Great Vault becomes much more valuable when you plan your weekly activities around the three reward rows instead of completing random content.
